Cómo funciona How it works

Los verbos españoles tienen una raíz (el significado) y una terminación (quién lo hace). Los verbos regulares siempre siguen el mismo patrón. Spanish verbs have a stem and an ending. Regular verbs follow the same pattern every time.

The 3 verb groups:

✔ -AR verbs: hablar (to speak), trabajar (to work), caminar (to walk)

✔ -ER verbs: comer (to eat), beber (to drink), leer (to read)

✔ -IR verbs: vivir (to live), escribir (to write), abrir (to open)

💡 The key insight:

Remove the -AR / -ER / -IR ending to get the stem, then add the new ending that matches the subject.

hablar → habl- → hablo, hablas, habla...

Parte 1: Verbos -AR — hablar to speak

Los verbos -AR son el grupo más común. El verbo modelo es HABLAR. -AR verbs are the most common group.

Parte 2: Verbos -ER — comer to eat

Los verbos -ER usan terminaciones diferentes. El verbo modelo es COMER. -ER verbs use different endings.

* ver and hacer are slightly irregular in "yo" form only

Parte 3: Verbos -IR — vivir to live

Los verbos -IR son muy similares a los -ER — solo 3 terminaciones son distintas. Verbo modelo: VIVIR. -IR verbs are very similar to -ER verbs.
